Bonka Bird Toys is checking out another great cage for small birds, as we now have our sights set on the King’s Cages SLTS 1818 Small Triple Top Cage. An awesome all-around aviary for avian amigos, the SLTS 1818 presents convenience and fun with five (5) access doors and an upper play zone.
While the SLTS 1818 Small Triple Top Cage isn’t the large cage out there, it proves that big excitement can come in small packages. Starting with the dimensions, the SLTS 1818 sits nicely at (18) inches long, (18) inches wide, and (55) inches tall. The inside height that your pet will actually be able to move around in is (29) inches tall. You can easily find larger cages if needed, but if you are looking for something on the smaller side, then the SLTS 1818 is hard to beat. This cage has some weight to it, as it is (50) lbs. with everything included. But you won’t have much trouble moving it, because there are four (4) flanged rolling casters at the bottom.
Much like other aviaries from King’s Cages, the SLTS 1818 is manufactured with the company’s signature Five Tank Process for applying a Powder Coated Finish. If you want to know the single biggest reason to purchase a high-end King’s Cages product, then that is it. Powder Coated Cages are vastly superior and more durable than low-grade aviaries with inexpensive paint finishes. With a Powder Coated Aviary like the SLTS 1818, you are getting an excellent product that is durable enough to last through a bird’s complete life cycle, if not even longer. Pretty much any experienced bird keeper will be able to tell you that this is one of the very best investments you can if you are serious and passionate about adopting and raising birds. Cages like this one are made for bird lovers who want to get it right the first time, and not worry about replacing their cages after just a few years of use.
Durability is one of the biggest benefits associated with the King’s Cages SLTS 1818. But the aviary also excels in terms of making the day-to-day of a bird lover life more convenient. The cage has five (5) doors in total. This includes a large front access door that measures (9.5) inches wide and (15) inches tall, and comes complete with a safety latch. Directly above the main door is another smaller upper access door for added versatility. Feeding is made easy with the two (2) small feeder doors that you can open without worrying about your pet getting out. Both doors come with a stainless steel feeder bowl, and they will last a lifetime if cared for properly. This means two (2) stainless steel bowls total.
But perhaps the most exciting door is the roof opening, which opens up to the play area. This is one of the defining features of the SLTS 1818, and it even comes with a perch to use in the play zone, thereby making it essentially guaranteed that your small feathered friend is going to have big fun. An extra perch is also found inside the cage, and you can add the upper play area perch to the inside when the roof opening is closed. That way, you can be sure that both of the natural wooden perches are being put to good use. You can't go wrong with two (2) perches!
All five (5) doors on the King’s Cages SLTS 1818 are designed to open outward, which is important for making sure that your perching pal doesn’t make an escape. These doors also feature bird-proof door locks that are installed on the outside, making it impossible for your beaked companion to reach them. For reference, these locks are the Round 1334 Lock 6 and the Spring Lock 7. Both are sold on the Bonka Bird Toys website, just in case you ever need to replace one. You will also appreciate the slide-out grill and slide-out tray that make cleaning the birdcage easier. And to prevent messes, a removable seed catcher is included with the SLTS 1818. Using the seed catcher will add (3.5) inches to each side of the cage. Last but not least, the bottom shelf on the cage is a great place for storing things like bird feed and bird-safe mist spray.
As the King’s Cages SLTS 1818 is a smaller birdcage, it is best-suited for small pet birds. Some species that have been known to do well in the SLTS 1818 Cage include parakeets, cockatiels, Indian Ringnecks, Quaker Parrots, and Senegal Parrots. Bar spacing is arguably the one most important thing you should consider when deciding if the King’s Cages SLTS 1818, or any other cage, is right for your winged wingman. For the SLTS 1818, its bar spacing is one-half (½) of an inch, and the bars are 3.5mm thick. The cage has horizontal side bars and vertical bars in the front and back. You must make sure that your pet bird isn’t small enough to stick their head through the bars and possibly become stuck.
Once you decide the King’s Cages SLTS 1818 is right for your pet, you will then need to decide on a color. The available options include Black & Silver, Coppertone, Grey & Silver, Sandstone, and Classic White. And your bird’s brand-new home wouldn’t be complete without some fun housewarming presents. Some of the best small bird toys you can get for the King’s Cages SLTS 1818 and your small taloned trustee include our Mini Sandals, the 1558 Flower Cracker, the 886 Spoon Explosion, the 0044 Small Gearhead, the 03394 Small Happy Holly, and the 1341 Small Indestructible Pipe Bell. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at Bonka Bird Toys if you have any questions about the King’s Cages SLTS 1818 or any of our other cages or toys.
